Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Hartmanns Armen Heinrich auf seine Formen zu untersuchen. Der Arme Heinrich als kleinstes episches Werk Hartmanns mit einem überschaubaren Umfang von 1520 Versen eignet sich gut für die Formanalyse mit dem Umfang einer Hauptseminararbeit.
Der erste Teil dieser Arbeit geht auf die metrischen und syntaktischen Besonderheiten und Reimarten ein. Folgend werde ich die Ergebnisse zusammenfassen und mich kritisch dazu äußern. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Strukturanalyse. Es werden Gliederungsversuche des Werkes nach formalen bzw. zahlenkompositorischen und inhaltlichen Gesichtspunkten erläutert, wobei bei den zahlenkompositorischen Gliederungsversuchen Gliederungen vorgestellt werden, denen zum einen die Zahl der Verse zugrunde liegt, zum anderen die Zahl der Textabschnitte. Von den Forschern Eggers, Fechter und Ehrismann werde ich Gliederungsversuche nach inhaltlichen Aspekten vorstellen und diese miteinander vergleichen. Abschließend fasse ich die wichtigsten Ergebnisse zusammen.
